REVOLVED TRIANGLE POSE!

Parivrtta Trikonasana

FEELIN' IT?

In this posture, I feel the tension, but it's still very much a good feeling. My legs are tight, so when I enter the full posture, I can definitely feel the strain. And, balancing that way is a challenge, but it feels rewarding. Somehow, concentrating all my thoughts on not falling and breathing in and out.. in and out, helps me to let go of everything else on my mind.

BENEFITS!

This asana has been known to be of benefit to certain conditions. Constipation, digestion and lower back aches are among them.

LEARN!

This pose focuses on your groin, lower back, abdomen and legs. As well as your shoulders, ankles, hips and spine. The twist activates the muscles listed and as well as exerts pressure on the joints.

POSE!

1. Stand in Tadasana
2. Exhale as you jump gently so that your legs are roughly four feet apart
3. Raise your arms so they're parallel with the ground and reach out, with your palms down
4. Open the heart's center by pulling your shoulder blades into your spine and lengthening it
5. Turn your left foot 45 degrees to the right and leave your left at 90
6. Place your heels in alignment and squeeze your legs so that your kneecaps raise, but be careful not to turn them
7. Exhale and twist your midsection to the right
8. Make sure your hips are squared and pull
9. Breathe in
10. Exhale again, turning more and reaching further down
11. Allow your left hip to drop slightly while activating the outer right thigh and releasing your right hip as well
12. Place your left hand in on your hip
13. If you feel balanced, raise your left arm up and keep it activated
14. Breathe
15. If you feel balanced, bring your gaze up to meet your left arm
16. Take several breaths
17. Twist back down to a more neutral position and switch sides
18. Take several breaths
19. Twist back down to a more neutral position and work your way back down to the mat
